Home Resume Basics Formatting Your Resume

Once your resume is completed and proofed, you will want to format it for both people and computers. Here are some guidelines to follow.
We've mentioned this before, but feel obligated to say it again: carefully proof read your resume.
Formatting for Printing and Scanning
The layout for your people-friendly resume should be attractive. Each section should be clearly delineated, each job visually distinct from the others, and your contact information completely obvious.
For the computer, attractive formatting only gets in the way. Choose a simple font (like Ariel or Times Roman) and create it as a Microsoft Word (doc) document.
